Yangzhou Launches the Pilot Project for National “Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage”

April 5th is the Insets Awaken day of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms. The launch ceremony of “Insets awaken” ritual activities of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms and “Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage” project were held co-sponsored by China Intangible Cultural Heritage Art Troupe, Yangzhou 486 Intangible Cluster Area. After Beijing, our city become the second pilot city of “Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage” set by the training center of China Intangible Cultural Heritage. Project relevant person read out the approval of piloting the project in Jiangsu by the training center of China Intangible Cultural Heritage, and introduced the rules of “Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage” and management practices. At the same time, the first intangible counselors and mentors appeared, in the future these mentors will foster a new generation inheritors.

Zhou Xin, the project leader, the deputy secretary-general of the strategic alliance of China Intangible Cultural Heritage,introduced that at present the public lecture include Yangzhou embroidery, paper cutting, cooking and other traditional skills, as well as calligraphy and other traditional Chinese culture courses. Teaching instructors are disciples of domestic and Yangzhou native intangible masters. In the early days we set up eight classes, such as paper cutting, engraving, guzheng, cooking, egg fried rice and large cooking kan-ssu. While reaching a certain class, we would grant him a junior certificate of “Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage”, and senior certificates would be directly signed by the national, provincial non-genetic successors, the equivalent of their apprentices, these children may also be promoted to non-genetic inheritors someday.
