Yangzhou’s Foreign Trade with ASEAN Grew Greatly

On July 31th, it is known from Yangzhou Customs that in the first half of this year, with the drive of various factors, Yangzhou’s foreign trade continued to be steady and tended to increase, imports and exports had a starring role and the total value grew by double digits.

In the first half of 2017, Yangzhou’s foreign trade import and export volume totaled 35.18 billion yuan, with an increase of 16.1%. The export volume totaled 26.18 billion yuan, with an increase of 11.9%; the import volume totaled 9 billion yuan, with an increase of 30.4%. The trade surplus added up to 17.18 billion yuan, with an increase of 4%. Yangzhou climbed up the ladder of the import and export volume in Jiangsu Province. It ranked 7th, higher than Zhenjiang.

ASEAN as an important node of “One Belt One Road”, has received attention from foreign trade enterprises.Our city’s trade with ASEAN  has significantly increased  and the growth in Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand  are more than 40%. Data shows that the city's total imports and exports to the EU, the United States and ASEAN were 7 billion yuan, 6.6 billion and 3.57 billion yuan in the first half year, respectively increased 8.4%, 9.4% and 38.8%. In the same period, Japanese imports and exports totaled 2.2 billion yuan, with an increase of 20.7%;Hong Kong imports and exports totaled 2.1 billion yuan,with an increase of 10.5%.

The development of private enterprises in our city is eye-catching. The import and export totaled 13.68 billion yuan in the first half year, with an increase of 14% and accounting for 38.9%. At the same time, the import and export of foreign-invested enterprises totaled 15.55 billion yuan in the first half year, with an increase of 8.7% and accounting for 44.5% of total exports and imports; the import and export of state-owned enterprises totaled 5.62 billion yuan, with an increase of 52.1%, accounting for 16%.
